The Avalon QUP Retreivable Bridge Plug is a high quality selective plug designed to provide pressure control or tubing anchoring in monobore completions, hydril style tubing and completions where existing production nipples are damaged. The QUP is an evolution of the Quinn QRTP, a time proven system with hundreds of successfull runs worldwide in the last decade and a half.
The Avalon QUP can be conveyed to depth on standard electric line using a multi-stage setting tool. The QUP can also be set on slickline using the Avalon Mechanical Setting Tool (MST) or the Avalon Non-Explosive Setting System (NESS). For highly deviated and horizontal wells, the QUP can be equipped with roller systems and conveyed on Coil Tubing.
Retreival of the QUP is done using a standard GS type pulling tool and standardized retreival procedures. The QUP features a patented releasing mechanism and specific improvements for ease of retreival.
Multiple Equilization assemblies and modular construction allow the QUP to adapt to a variety of downhole tasks quickly with few changes.
The Avalon QUP is rated to 7500psi (50Mpa) pressure differential.
Applications
QUP Plug
- Well bore isolation as a mechanical barrier for pressure control
- Pressure control for snubbing operations or wellhead changeovers
- Sour gas or CO2 zone supression
- Offshore Collision Control
QUP Straddle
- Zone Isolation for water/CO2/.H2S shut off using straddle equipment and the large thru-bore of the QUP to maintain production
QUP Hanger
- Suspend P/T guages in smooth bore tubing (ie- hydril pipe)
QUP AR-Lift
- Hanger system for artificial lift systems (velocity string), systems for improving lift capacity below the production packer
QUP Choke
- Bottom sub can be equipped with an orifice choke, check valveor pump open bottom sub.
Features
- Multiple setting options: Slickline, E-Line or Coil Tubing
- Patented release mechanism and patent pending slip-lock design
- Equilizing assembly options: Prong EQ. type, Kobes knockout type (with sand control system)or pump open sub
- All QUPs are built to NACE MR0175 specifications
- Proprietary HSN (Highly Saturated Nitrile) elements for sour-service or high temperature (400OF/200OC) Fluoroelastomer sealing elements
- Proprietary TRIPLEXTM elastomer design seals against even highly corroded tubing walls
- Maximized thru bore for maximum production in straddle systems, guage hanger applications
- In severe service conditions, the bottom sub mounted elements can be easily removed by light jarring
